The Painter's Fairy

Those who lift their heads at night to gaze at the sky and the stars, those who take an interest in the Cosmos, undoubtedly know this name, or have at least heard of it: The Fairy of the Eagle Nebula.
In photographs taken by the Hubble Space Telescope, we humans have given this name to a formation resembling a winged fairy-tale creature standing upon a pedestal.
We love such mythical beings. And we believe they bring goodness and beauty into our lives.
Yet science tells us that the home of this fairy is something like a nursery, where young stars are formed and born. Over time, the ultraviolet radiation emitted by those young stars has eroded this pillar, giving it its remarkable shape.
Yes, nature gave it a form, and we humans gave it a name.
And I, by painting the fairy of my imagination, have made her my own.She is now my fairy, wandering among the stars in a beautiful red dress, its flowing skirts fluttering as she moves.
I adorned her hair with flowers of every kind and turned the red blossoms falling from her dress into stars. And I opened such a luminous path before her that wherever she glides, she may carry joy and happiness.
May love spring forth from everything she touches. And so, she will now grace our dreams.
She is now the Painter’s Fairy…
Geceleri başını kaldırıp gök yüzüne, yıldızlara bakan ve Cosmos ’a ilgi duyanların kuşkusuz bildiği, en azından duyduğu bir isimdir. The Fairy of Eagle Nebula – Kartal Bulutsusu’nun Perisi.
Hubble Uzay Teleskobu tarafından çekilen fotoğraflarda, bir kaide üzerinde duran kanatlı bir peri masalı yaratığına benzeyen bu şekle biz insanlar bu ismi yakıştırmışız. Severiz böyle efsanevi yaratıkları. Ve inanırız onların bizlere iyilikler, güzellikler taşıdıklarına.
Oysa bu perinin konağı genç yıldızların oluşup doğduğu bir kuluçkahane gibidir der bilim. O genç yıldızların yaydıkları ultraviole zamanla bu sütunu aşındırarak bu şekli vermiş. Evet doğa ona bir şekil vermiş, biz insanlar da bir isim vermişiz.
Ben de hayalimdeki perinin resmini yaparak ona sahiplendim. Güzel kırmızı bir elbise içinde etekleri uçuşarak yıldızların arasında dolaşan benim perim artık.
Onun saçlarına çeşit çeşit çiçekler taktım, elbisesinden dökülen kırmızı çiçeklerden yıldızlar yaptım. Ve ona öyle ışıklı bir yol açtım ki, süzülerek geçtiği her yere sevinç ve mutluluk taşısın. Dokunduğu her yerden sevgi fışkırsın.
O artık rüyalarımızı böylece süsleyecek.
