To me, the only constant reality of the universe is its endless motion and transformation. Perhaps, in time, we will discover that other realities exist as well.
For now, the only reality we know can be described as birth, life, death, or transformation.
Just as this is true for us, the living beings inhabiting our tiny planet, it is equally true for stars, galaxies, and all the entities that make up the Cosmos.
In every corner of the Cosmos, there are billions of regions where young stars are formed, often referred to as stellar nurseries. And there are stars that have reached the end of their lives, dead stars known as dwarfs, and supernovae.
Every transformation, every death in the universe, creates the raw materials from which new lives emerge.
Yet certain regions attract greater scientific attention because our extraordinarily advanced telescopes have captured them in remarkable detail.
The Pillars of Creation are one such place.
A region where billions of stars are born, preparing for a long existence.
Those magnificent formations, seemingly reaching toward the heavens, reveal a moment that carries the grandeur of an extraordinary beginning.
They allow us to sense the first spark of life and the inevitable rise of creation.
And yet, we are told that this magnificent structure will evaporate and disappear within the next thousand years, vanishing from the universe.
If only the universe, too, had a memory of its own.
Evrenin taşıdığı tek gerçeklik sürekli bir devinim ve harekettir bana göre. Belki ilerde başka gerçekler olduğu da anlaşılabilir. Şimdilik bilebildiğimiz tek gerçeklik doğum, yaşam, ölüm ya da dönüşüm olarak tanımlanabiliyor.
Bu minicik gezegenimizde yaşayan biz canlılar için bu böyle olduğu gibi, yıldızlar, galaksiler yani Cosmos’u meydana getiren tüm varlıklar için de doğrudur.
COSMOS’un her köşesinde milyarlarca “kuluçka” da denilen genç yıldızların oluştuğu bölgeler var. Ve yaşamının sonuna gelmiş cüce yıldız denilen ölmüş yıldızlar, süpernovalar.
Evrende her dönüşüm, ya da her ölüm yeni yaşamların ham maddelerini oluşturuyor.
Ama bazı bölgeler çok gelişmiş teleskoplarımızın tüm detayları ile görüntülerine girdiklerinden bilimin dikkatini daha çok çekiyor.
Yaratılış Sütunları bunlardan biri işte. Milyarlarca yıldızın doğduğu, uzun bir yaşama hazırlandığı bir bölge.
Sanki gök yüzüne uzanıyormuş gibi duran o harikulade formlar özgün bir başlangıcın ihtişamını taşıyan bir ânı gözler önüne seriyor. Yaşamın ilk kıvılcımını ve oluşumun kaçınılmaz yükselişini bizlere hissettiriyor.
Bu harika yapı da önümüzdeki bin yıl içinde buharlaşıp yok olacak ve evrenden silinip gidecekmiş.
Keşke evrenin de bir hafıza kaydı olsaydı.
