“Power,” in every sense of the word, is such an alluring, such an overwhelming force. Once possessed, it can make the entire world bow before you, even worship you. From a distance, it may inspire admiration, but if you are swept up in its winds, it can drag your entire life along with it and make you its prisoner.

There are many kinds of power that we know of. Physical power, sexual power, political power, the power of money, the power of fame, the power of the state, the power of nature.

Speaking of sexual power, it is said that many of us humans carry the genes of Genghis Khan. Apparently, the man did more than just wage wars.

Of all these forms of power, perhaps it is what happens on this perfectly round, atmosphere-wrapped planet of ours, which we call nature, that matters most to life.

Thunder, flashes of lightning, lightning strikes, storms, tornadoes, earthquakes… The natural phenomena that frighten us, nature’s displays of sheer power. We can never quite get used to them, but through countless sacrifices, we have learned to live with them.

But what about the Big Bang? The Big Bang that took place 13.8 billion years ago and gave birth to the universe?

What kind of power was that?

Could we possibly have been inside it?

Or far enough away to admire it?
