NEDEN RESİM YAPIYORUM?
Yaşar Kemal [Kimsecik 3 / Kanın Sesi’ nden]
“Ferhat usta var ya biçimlerini, renklerini hiç başka yerden almıyor, maviyi göklerden, denizlerden, mavi çiçeklerden almıyor. Onun bütün renkleri kendi yüreğinin kuyusunda, bütün biçimleri de orada. İşte her şeyi oradan çıkarıyor. Gözü yüreğindeki kuyunun aynasında, ışığında. Onun yüreğinde on bin yeşil, on bin mavi, on bin turuncu var.
Bu dünyayı Ferhat usta hak etmiş, dünyayı çoğaltmıştır. Dünyayı hak etmek her kula nasip olmaz.

WHY DO I PAINT?
Yaşar Kemal — Kimsecik 3: Kanın Sesi (The Voice of Blood)
“You know Master Ferhat? He does not borrow his shapes and colors from anywhere else. He does not take his blues from the skies, the seas, or the blue flowers. All his colors lie deep within the well of his own heart, and all his forms are there, too. Everything he creates comes from that well. His eyes are fixed upon the mirror and the light within his heart. In that heart of his, there are ten thousand shades of green, ten thousand blues, ten thousand oranges.
Master Ferhat has earned his place in this world. He has multiplied the world, enriched it with his creations. Not everyone is granted the privilege of deserving this world. Just look at them, at the world flowing and multiplying from Master Ferhat’s fingertips… It is his creative heart, as rich and beautiful as the world itself, that brings all this into being. He has poured everything he possesses, his entire heart and soul, into this four-wheeled cart. He has earned his place in this world so completely that it belongs to him by right, as naturally and purely as a mother’s milk belongs to her child.
First, dust will settle upon this cart. Mustafa will wipe it away for a day or two. Eventually, he will forget. And even if he does not forget, even if he wipes it clean every single day, the time will come when the colors will fade beneath the Çukurova sun, and then the paint will begin to peel away. And after that, after that, the entire cart will decay.
Does Master Ferhat not know this? He knows it better than anyone. Of course he knows. But this is what he must do. He is compelled to pour the beautiful colors and forms from his heart onto that cart. It matters little to him that the paint will eventually peel away or that the cart will decay. What matters is that people will see his artistry, even if only for a few days… even if only for a few fleeting minutes…”
And so, like Master Ferhat, I, too, must pour the colors and forms that dwell within my heart onto my canvas.
Even if only for a few days…
Even if only for a few fleeting moments…
So that I may see them, and allow others to see them, too…
